The best way for you to lose weight healthfully is to eat a low-fat, nutrient-dense diet and to exercise regularly, says the Cleveland Clinic. A variety of commercially available teas claim to boost metabolism and help you drop pounds, but Columbia Health cautions that these beverages aren’t the key to weight loss and that, in some cases, they may cause health problems, especially if you drink them in excess. No solid evidence exists proving that weight-loss teas work, though they are a good source of antioxidants that may lower your risk of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease. If you choose to prepare your own weight-loss tea, talk to your doctor about how much you can safely drink each day.
